Who says you’re behind on AI?
How to make sense of AI without getting caught up in the race.
Talk synopsis
Everyone else seems to be moving faster. Competitors are announcing AI initiatives. You’re worried or your board wants to know what you're doing. New tools appear almost daily and every conversation seems to come with another warning that businesses that don't embrace AI now will be left behind.
But behind whom? And measured by what?
There is no single AI race. What matters is whether AI can create meaningful value for your business – and whether you're ready to realise it.
In this talk, Alan challenges the pressure to keep pace with everyone else's AI activity and explores what genuine progress looks like. He looks at how to separate signal from noise, identify the opportunities worth pursuing and understand what needs to be in place for them to succeed – from the right data and technology to security, governance, processes and people.
Because sometimes the right answer will be to move faster. Sometimes it will be to fix the foundations first. And sometimes the smartest decision will be not to use AI at all.
Who is this talk for?
Business leaders, founders and senior decision-makers who know AI matters but aren't yet confident about what it should mean for their organisation. Particularly relevant for businesses feeling pressure from boards, investors, customers or competitors to demonstrate progress on AI – whether they're struggling to get started, experimenting without seeing meaningful value, or questioning where to invest next.
What will they take away?
A clearer way to judge their own AI progress without using everybody else's activity as the benchmark – and practical questions to help them decide where to move, where to prepare and where not to invest.
